It is very important to know your own skin type before applying skin care products. What works for your friend might not work for you simply because her skin is not the same as yours. Man’s skin is also very different than woman’s. Man’s skin is thicker and tougher than woman skin. And that’s is why there is Men Skin Care.
Generally, there are five different skin types:
- Normal skin: is considered the perfect skin (mainly seen in baby and young children). It’s soft, supple and smooth. It has a proper balance of oil and moisture contents. It is clear of any spots or blemishes. The most desired skin type.
- Oily skin: Skin has oily sheen. It is caused by the over secretion of sebum that makes the skin oily. This excess skin oil attracts dirt and dust from the environment. This type of skin is prone to black heads, white heads, acne and large pores
- Dry skin: skin appear taunt, dry and prone to flaking. Pores are tight. It is also prone to wrinkles and fine lines and age faster. Dry skin is due to the inability to retain moisture as well as the insufficient production of sebum by the sebaceous glands. The good thing is, dry skin rarely have acne problems.
- Combination skin: A very common type of skin. It is both oily and dry. It is usually oily in the forehead the nose and the chin area (also known as T zone), and dry in other area of the face. Each part of the face should be treated accordingly and use skin care products made especially for combination skin.
- Sensitive skin: Skin may react to soap, alcohol, fragrance or sunscreen. It is also very sensitive to changes in the climate. It may suffer from stinging, itching or redness. Choose skin care products that are suitable for sensitive skin.
